Galapagos vacation adventures can take you face to face with some of the most bizarre and unique animals on the planet. The Galapagos Islands are historic for their population of exotic animals, plants, birds, and reptiles. The Galapagos Islands have held international notoriety ever since Charles Darwin arrived in 1835. His naturalistic observations led to his writing and publishing the historic tome, The Origin of Species, which in turn changed the face of evolutionary science. He noted different creatures of similar biological makeup living on different islands within the Galapagos Archipelago, and surmised that the two had evolved from a single species long ago when the islands might have been connected.

There are cruises of the Galapagos Islands, during which travelers can see the creatures and climate of the islands for themselves, but from the safety and seclusion of a luxury ocean cruiser. These are popular, and often continue of to the shores of Ecuador and South America.
Also, travelers may elect to try a hiking and camping vacation on Galapagos. The islands have much to offer any interested parties who wish to see the animals, volcanoes, and plants in person. They may also see some of the many historic sites around the islands, from famous volcanic ash deposits to the spots where Darwin made his famous research observations.
